Penelope Mitchell is a 'Hemlock Grove' Girl From Down Under

Penelope Mitchell was born in 1991 and raised in Melbourne, Australia.

She attended Melbourne University where she studied literature and was a fan of Gothic literature.

Penelope Mitchell is a self-confessed genre nerd. "I was raised on a staple diet of Sam Raimi and Quentin Tarantino, and a lot of Stanley Kubrick."

Penelope said before landing the gig on "Hemlock Grove," that she was "ridiculously poor. I was eating, like, free protein shakes...from some events and almonds for a few weeks."

She said, "I uprooted my life...and came over to America with the idea of pursuing my acting career. I wasn't really sure where I would end up. I threw caution to the wind."

She has previously appeared in an Australian kids' show "Toony Time," "Rush" and a reality show "Next Stop Hollywood."

Penelope added she was glad she waited to move to America until she was ready. "It's important to have a sense of grounding and your own morality and not get swiped up in all the bulls--t."

Penelope Mitchell said if she wasn't an actress, she would like to be an explosives technician.

Penelope Mitchell resides in Los Angeles.
