For every great performer, there's a weird, unrecognizable video of them lurking somewhere on the Interwebs. Enjoy the awkward first appearances of TV of many well-known men, one foxy lady and a boy named Justin Bieber.
Jerry Seinfeld (1977)
With bellbottoms and a Brooklyn accent, Jerry Seinfeld looks more like an IT guy for a software company than a stand-up comedian on "Celebrity Cabaret." Luckily, he would begin to form ideas on a show about nothing, which would wildly entertain us a decade later.

Louis C.K. (1993)
Appearing on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" in 1993 for his first televised stand-up act, a skinny and ginger facial hair free Louis C.K. talks about New York's city life and does a few impressions. It's pretty clear he has been hilarious from the get-go.

Chris Farley (1993)
A little nervous in his first TV appearance, Chris Farley reminds us how funny he was before his untimely death, and how much he looked like a fat Adam DeVine.

Jim Carrey (1983)
In his first stand-up appearance on television, Jim Carrey attempts to wow Johnny Carson's "The Tonight Show" crowd with squirrely, Zach Morris hair and an Elvis impersonation. It's a little awkward, but you can tell he's about to go off the deep end into an Ace Ventura film.

Larry David (1980)
He might have more hair, but he's still a colossal prick. In his earliest television appearance for the sketch comedy show "Fridays," Larry David reviews the film "Private Benjamin." He is more finicky than ever in this film review, yet still doesn't give a damn what people think of him.

Phil Hartman (1980)
Not so much funny as it is hard to tell that it's Phil Hartman, at least not until he opens his mouth with that quirky fast-paced voice of his. Dammit, Phil, we miss that sass.

Justin Bieber (2008)
Although he still looks about the same to us, you can tell this footage is older because Bieber isn't yet rocking the stud earrings and his mother drove him to the show. It's also really cool that the nice prayers people said for Justin led to his success and the Justin Bieber Dress Up Game.

Bill Cosby (1965)
You can't recognize Bill without a pudding pop, but this Cosby has a clear vision of how God's conversations went back in the day. As far as we can tell, he's correct until proven otherwise.

U2 (1980)
Yes, the "band of the future," U2 was nice enough to grace us with their presence with their first TV appearance on "The Late Late Show" in 1980. Just look at that technicolor bass player next to the shrimpy little Bono dwarf. Ah, cute kids.

Conan O'Brien (1988)
It might be short, but you get two for one with a special Tom Hanks-in-his-prime appearance on "Saturday Night Live" back when Conan was just a writer and little known stagehand.

Bob Dylan (1963)
Looking like a young Rachel Maddow, Bob Dylan takes a break between cigarettes to play "Man of Constant Sorrow" in his first television appearance in 1963. It's pretty amazing to see Dylan live here and be able to understand him. In the next two years, Dylan would release five records.

Steve Jobs (1978)
Although not known as an entertainer, we couldn't resist including this clip, especially with the "Jobs" movie coming out in a few weeks. Before premiering the new Apple II in 1978, Steve Jobs gets prepped by the TV crew. The 23-year-old genius orders up glasses of water and informs everyone he may barf at any moment. Rest in peace, Stevie.

Pamela Anderson (1990)
We wouldn't be a men's site if we didn't give you a hot girl, and only the best in the biz will do. Here's a look back at the late '80s Playmate shoot with Pam Anderson, her first but definitely not last Playboy shoot. Is it weird she's still hotter than most women?
