When you step out with a lady, you generally have pretty high hopes. But it always pays to plan for the worst, as the ten unlucky lovers in this article discovered. These men and women decided to take a chance on romance and ended up getting completely screwed over. Love hurts.
Man Gets Tied Up by Twins

Arranging an evening through an escort service counts as a "date" in the loosest sense of the word, but this story might turn you off permanently on shelling out cash for companionship. In October of 2014, a Manhattan octogenarian named Paul Aronson set up a date through a website with a 17-year-old girl named Shaina Foster, who offered to bring her twin sister along. What started out like a letter to Penthouse ended with a write-up in the police blotter, as the girls bound him to a coffee table with zip ties, stole his credit cards and went on a shopping spree. After 20 hours, Aronson was freed and the girls were picked up by the cops. (Photo credit: Quin Dombrowski via Flickr CC)
Man Buries Date Alive

If you fly to another country for an Internet date, you'd better be ready for anything. A French woman named Mina el Houari was involved in a scorching online flirtation with a Moroccan man in June of 2014 and bought a plane ticket to meet him for the first time. After checking into a five-star hotel in Fez, she went to the man's house for dinner. During the meal, she collapsed into a diabetic coma and, not knowing what to do, he panicked and buried her in a shallow grave in his backyard. El Houari's relatives contacted the police, who eventually found her body and charged the man with involuntary manslaughter. (Photo credit: AU News)
Woman Runs Over Date With His Own Car

If you want to make a list of things that could ruin a date, impromptu tattoos and vehicular homicide should both be on there. In September of 2014, Leon Shaw took a lady out for dinner before the pair went over to a friend's house to party. The friend was a tattoo artist, and Shaw's date asked him to put some ink on her chest. As things progressed, she then started to make out with the tattoo artist in front of her erstwhile paramour, and an argument broke out. The woman ran out of the house and jumped into Shaw's truck, and when he followed she ran him over and fled the scene. No word on how the chest tattoo came out. (Photo credit: IBird2 via Flickr CC)
Man Steals Date's TV, Dog

There's a certain level of vulnerability involved in dating -- you're letting a virtual stranger into your life and hoping that they have good intentions. A woman in Dover, New Jersey, learned the hard way that sometimes they don't. After getting set up with a man named Joel by friends, the pair had a satisfying evening out before returning to her house. The woman went into another room to freshen up, but when she returned she discovered that not only was her date gone, he'd stolen her flat-screen TV and her Yorkshire terrier. She called the police, and a day later both the TV and the pooch appeared in her yard. Obviously she didn't pursue a second date. (Photo credit: Daily Record)
Man Fakes Knife Attack to Impress Date

Few things bring a couple together as quickly as a shared trauma. That's the rationale that Arkansas man Jeffery Tyler Siegel brought to the table when he recruited a friend to pose as a knife-wielding mugger. Siegel, who was on a date with a young woman named Brianne Coots, was supposed to bravely fight off the attacker and win his lady's heart, but his plan hit a bump when Coots fled the scene at full speed to get the police. They searched the scene for two hours and found no sign of the suspect, and Siegel eventually admitted the whole thing was a set-up. (Photo credit: Safeinternational)
Woman Steals Date's Car Twice

This one's particularly hilarious just for how personal the lady makes it. A Washington man named Andrew Scarborough met a lady named Ashley Dawson on MySpace (yes, people still use MySpace) and hit it off with her. After he brought her to his house, she got him naked and told him to wait for her in the shower. After a few minutes, Scarborough realized something was wrong and walked back out to his living room to discover that she'd stolen his laptop, his wallet, his cell phone and even his car. Police got the vehicle back, but astonishingly she stole it again a month later from in front of his work! (Photo credit: KOMO4)
Man Carjacks Date

To turn the tables a little bit, here's a story from Florida where a dater got a little jealous of his lady's ride. A young woman in Hollywood, Florida, named Nimeha Milien met Donald McGee on a Friday night after he got her number from a mutual friend and started texting her. The pair went for a romantic walk at Ocean Inlet Park before she dropped him off at a Wendy's. When she asked him to get out, McGee instead pulled a gun on his date and stole her car, leading police on an eight-mile chase that only ended when he got the car stuck in rough terrain on a ramp. Woman Gets Real Clingy Real Fast

One of the most vital pieces of dating wisdom is to not get too emotionally committed too quickly. Nobody told Boca Raton, Florida, woman Jillian Martone that, though. After a 2012 date with Efren Molina, her big heart got the best of her. After a successful evening out, the pair retired to Molina's apartment. After some heavy petting, Martone made an offhand comment about being Molina's girlfriend. Not wanting to be tied down, the dude demurred, which set his lover off on a rampage. She pulled a knife on her lover, who injured himself disarming her and threw her out. Martone then proceeded to smash out a bunch of his windows with rocks until the police arrived. Man Makes Date Drive Getaway Car

A little excitement can kick romance into high gear, but the disastrous date that Welsh single mother Leigh Gibbs went on pumped up the adrenaline a little too much. After meeting a man named Adam Minton on Facebook, she set up a date to get to know him better. When she picked him up, he asked her to swing by a local shopping center. She waited in the car as he ran in, then came out five minutes later urging her to quickly drive away. When the duo got back to Gibbs's house, the police were close behind -- Minton had robbed an off-track betting shop at knifepoint and enlisted Gibbs as his unwitting getaway driver. Couple Throws Molotov Cocktails at a Pizza Parlor

Let's close this one out with a date in which both parties are equally at fault. When Eugene, Oregon, couple Matthew Bossard and Leticia Kagele got a hankering for pizza, they dropped in at Whirled Pies and ate their fill, washing it down with a few too many drinks. After the shop closed up at 10 P.M., Bossard got agitated and the pair started wreaking havoc outside, throwing a concrete planter through the front window. The duo charged through the shattered glass and started making improvised Molotov cocktails from booze bottles behind the bar, but thankfully police arrived to bust the couple before the damages could get too out of hand.
