The 10 Biggest Graduation Pranks

Operation Clean the Floor (2010)

At South Carolina's Boiling Springs High, the student body was getting a little tired of the lack of summer fun in the final weeks of school. So an enterprising group of about a dozen students cordoned off one of the building's hallways, rolled out a gigantic length of tarp, hooked up some hoses and made the entire place into a gargantuan Slip 'N Slide. Needless to say, the resultant property damage got them into some trouble, but we bet it was worth it.

Hole-y Crap  (2009)

Mainland Regional High School in Linnwood, New Jersey is pretty used to civil disobedience during graduation season, with several ceremonies interrupted because students used the microphone time to talk smack about the school. But in 2009 some pranksters went above and beyond with a sneaky joke that could have seriously injured people. The night before the ceremony, a group of students went out to the football field where the graduating seniors were supposed to stand and dug 25 holes, filling them up with loose sod. Thankfully, custodians discovered the Vietnam-style booby traps before anybody broke a leg.

Permission to Fornicate (2006)

Some of the best graduation pranks come when the students decide to take the administration in their own hands.

In 2006, a group of seniors at San Dieguito Academy in Encinitas, California stole school letterhead and forged letters to the entire class's parents informing them that, to comply with a new (and fictional) California state law, all students will be provided with condoms free of charge at prom. They forged the signature of the principal and the director of student activities at the bottom, making for a very believable and fantastic prank.

No Parking (1997)

One of the most legendary pranks of all time came at Connecticut's Brookfield East High School back in 1997. Brookfield East has been a hotbed for pranks for decades, with students pulling all kinds of shenanigans, but when seniors managed to get ahold of a Pontiac 6000 and crane it up over the school's metal entryway, things got taken to a whole new level of epic. Since then, Brookfield has seen plenty of pretenders try to beat that feat, but none have pulled it off.

Video Nasty (2012)

Let's venture outside of the U.S. for another sexually-themed graduation prank from Hellerup, Denmark. When the assembled class of about 450 high school students got together in the gymnasium for their graduation ceremony, they expected to watch a short video about life at the school. Shockingly for them, some enterprising prankster had hijacked the feed and spliced in a sexually explicit video that featured a male student and an older woman. The video, which was obviously filmed with a hidden camera, scandalized the attendees. The administration claims to know who did it, but they're eluding justice so far.

Post-It Party (2012)

One of the most interesting things about senior pranks is how overblown the reaction to it can be, and this one's on the list for exactly that reason. A group of seniors at Cascade High School in Clayton, Indiana pulled an artistic prank when they covered the windows and walls with cool Post-It note patterns overnight. The administration suspended the six perpetrators and actually fired a custodian who knew about the prank and thought that the kids had been given permission to do it. What a bunch of killjoys!

Welcome to Assville (2008)

Sometimes a senior prank has to venture off-campus to really be epic. For students in Ashville, Ohio, the natural target for their 2008 senior prank was the town's water tower, which is visible for miles in every direction. With just a simple sheet of posterboard and some paint, they replaced the "H" with a capital "S," and everybody in town woke up in Assville. The prank actually caused some serious trouble for the perpetrators, who were charged under Homeland Security violations.

Lockdown (2003)

Releasing farm animals into the halls of your school is a time-honored graduation prank, but the seniors at North Harford High School in rural Maryland may have taken things a little too far. Not only did they stock the school with a veritable barnyard of creatures including cows, pigs and horses, but they also glued pennies over all of the door locks and raised a flag reading "LOCKDOWN" over the school. The perpetrators were never caught, making this one of the most legendary pranks ever.
