Nothing like a midweek cry-fest to get things going again.
After suffering a massive heart attack back in September, an elderly veteran from Delaware was unable to care for his dogs, Bailey and Blaze, while he was in the hospital. The First State Animal Center and SPCA (a shelter inside of a PetSmart) offered their services and took the dogs in until the veteran was able to care for them again.

The veteran spent weeks in the hospital and the dogs had to be put up for adoption, but he was lucky to learn that his dogs had still not been adopted, so off he went to the Petsmart store to get his dogs back.
The man needed $250 in adoption fees to retrieve his dogs, and he needed a few days to get the money, and even then he didn't quite have enough. But the adoption agents at the Petsmart had a pretty big surprise for the veteran when he returned.

Volunteers were able to gather enough money to pay for the adoption fees for the man, as well as necessary supplies for Bailey and Blaze.
