It has been well documented, but it bears repeating -- cats and dogs rule the Internet. One day we are going crazy about Collective Soul Cat, and the next day we are laughing our asses off at derpy dogs. And there is no end in sight. So what happens when we put cats and dogs together in one hilarious gallery? Answer: an explosion of Internet delight. Here are some intense stare downs between felines and canines, with a few other members of the animal kingdom thrown into the mix.
And just for fun, we'll be keeping score of the staring contests...starting on the next slide.

The dog is frozen in his tracks, but the kitty's hairs are standing straight up, an obvious sign of fear. Point dog.

The dog has the size advantage, but the look on the cat's face says, "I'm not f#*king around." Point cat.

Sometimes a face-to-face stare down is too much, so a glass door is needed to ease the tension. However, that cat's stare seems to be a little off. Perhaps it's cross-eyed? Point dog.

Everyone wins when there is a cat-on-cat stare down, especially when one cat is on the roof. Point for each cat.

An all-dog stare down is pretty good, too. Point for each dog staring, but minus one for the distracted German Shepherd.

Oh great, back to cat wars. Neither one looks willing to give in and start playing with that box of tissues. This one's a draw.

So far, all of these stare downs have been pretty harmless. But if that large outdoor kitty (mountain lion) gets through that door and gets its paws on that domestic kitty (Garfield), there could be a lot of trouble. Point for the fluffy cat for looking death in the eye, though.

Another squirrel, and a dog staring at it because he wants to eat it. Run away squirrel! Minus one point for squirrel.

Another yard stare down between cat and dog, but this time the dog is unleashed. However, that cat just pooped so the dog is about to break concentration to run over and eat it. Point cat.
