Even as we are writing this, surely you are still playing or just finishing up Injustice: Gods Among Us, considering it just hit the shelves on Tuesday. But in the fast paced world of video games, which seem to churn out new releases faster than Hollywood can produce blockbusters, it's only a matter of a very short time before you gamers will be onto the next one. Since we know that there are at least two games that disappoint (Aliens: Colonel Marines, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct) for every one that blows us away (BioShock Infinite), we figured it was only right to present you with the cream of the crop. Hence, this list of the top 10 most anticipated video games (with trailers) for the remainder of 2013. Let us know what you think.
Star Trek: The Game
Release Date: April 23, 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Sure, this is an officially licensed "Star Trek: Into Darkness" video game tie-in bridging the two films together, but don't hold that against it (at least not yet). This third-person shooter looks and sounds like it packs some serious nerd cred. Though it is a single player action game, it has also been colorfully described as featuring a "bro-op" mode, as you and a buddy can play alongside each other as Kirk and Spock. It is expected the two players will possess their own unique gameplay styles, with Kirk being the more gung-ho, and Spock possessing stealthier methods, as well as the Vulcan nerve pinch, of course.

The Last of Us
Release Date: June 14, 2013
Consoles: PS3
In a premise that appears to be part The Walking Dead and part NBC's Revolution, this single-player, post-apocalyptic action-adventure is developer Naughty Dog's follow up to their immensely popular Uncharted games series. You play as Joel, a man trying to hold onto his humanity while surviving horrors unimaginable while also protecting his young teenage counterpart, Ellie. Two time Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla is also scoring the game, making sure that as harrowing as this game already sounds, it will be played with 10 times the intensity.

Grand Theft Auto V
Release Date: September 17, 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
There is not much to say about this game that hasn't already been said about its predecessors. All we can really do is try to tell you about some of the new aspects of the game, including three playable characters instead of one, piloting stealth fighters, the incorporation of animals such as dogs and sharks, and an open-world that is bigger in scale than the worlds of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Red Dead Redemption combined. Surely, even if we thought the game was going to be terrible (which we don't), we still couldn't talk a living soul out of purchasing it the second it's released.

Deadpool
Release Date: Summer 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3
This one may be a little bit of a stretch as far as "most anticipated" goes, considering that Marvel Comic's "merc with a mouth" has a very concentrated, yet loyal, fanbase. But what makes this game stand out among other superhero titles is the fact that it is rated "Mature." Therefore, gamers who don't have a clue who Deadpool is will still enjoy the violence, sex, strong language and gore associated with a third-person action game revolving around a smart-mouthed mercenary for hire. Fans of Deadpool, on the other hand, will be happy to know that not only will the fourth wall-breaking antihero be voiced yet again by Nolan North (who has voiced Deadpool in several other iterations), the story itself was written by Daniel Way (arguably Marvel Comic's best Deadpool writer).

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Release Date: August 20, 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC
The Splinter Cell franchise is already well established in the stealth action-adventure genre, so it should come as no surprise why this game made our list. Coupling this with several new, as well as returning, gameplay elements such as killing in motion (allowing players to highlight targets in quick succession while on the go), multiplayer competitive mode "spy vs. mercs," and younger mocap actor Eric Johnson playing the lead role of Sam Fisher, the game sounds like a slam dunk. Oh, and did we mention a new studio, Ubisoft Toronto, has taken over, with Jade Raymond (Assassin's Creed) running the show?

Beyond: Two Souls
Release Date: October 8, 2013
Consoles: PS3
What do Oscar nominees Willem Dafoe and Ellen Page and video games have in common? The answer is Beyond: Two Souls. And while details on the plot are relatively mum, game director David Cage is not one to phone it in, with previous entries such as Heavy Rain never lacking in ambition. This one centers on Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page) and a mysterious supernatural entity named Aiden whom only Jodie can communicate with. Apparently, the central theme has to do with what happens after death. The genre itself is technically interactive cinema, so it is almost hard to say whether it is a game, or a film. Either way, with such stellar talent behind it, it's worth taking a chance on.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Release Date: October 29, 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, PS4
Is anyone else sold at "shark fights?" Well, if not, let us fill you in on what else is new in this latest chapter of the Assassin's Creed franchise. First and foremost, its main protagonist is the grandfather of Connor from the previous installment. His name is Edward Kenway, and he's a pirate assassin. This brings us to the next big change, which is that the game centers on pirates sailing the Caribbean in 1715. Obviously, it only gets more different from there in terms of plot, but fans of the previous installments in the franchise should have no trouble getting onboard (pun unavoidable). The game is to be released for Playstation 4 once the console is unleashed upon us.

Watch Dogs
Release Date: Fall 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, PS4
A game unlike any others, this open-world, action-adventure puts you in control of master hacker Aiden Pearce in a futuristic Chicago setting. The main difference between this and any other open-world genre game is that the main character doesn't defeat his enemies or allude the authorities solely through fisticuffs and weaponry, but by means of hacking everything from cell phones, security cameras, and traffic lights. A concept this uniquely exciting will surely not disappoint, especially when it is released for the Playstation 4 console.

Battlefield 4
Release Date: Fall 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
While it is still unknown what time period Battlefield 4 will take place, we know that World War II, Vietnam, modern day and even future time periods have been done in the previous games. Based on gameplay trailers, China is a possibility for at least one location the campaign will be played in. Beyond that, it is anyone's guess. But fans of these first-person shooters shouldn't fear, as this looks to be yet another stellar addition to the franchise.

South Park: The Stick of Truth
Release Date: TBD 2013
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Honestly, if you are a fan of South Park, then you have to be excited for this one. Written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the series, this role playing RPG not only looks and feels exactly like an episode of the show, but you get to design and play as your own character in the game. We only hope that the game itself doesn't get lost in the shuffle, as original developers THQ filed chapter 11 bankruptcy before its release. Luckily, Ubisoft picked it up. However, their original release date of March 5, 2013 has been pushed several times. Oh, and for those not interested in South Park: The Stick of Truth: Screw you guys. I'm going home.
