If you aren't a regular viewer of the Syfy network, we don't blame you. There is a lot of bad TV that comes from there. Rachel was born on January 8, 1980 in Augusta, Maine, where she also grew up. She attended Cony High School.

Once college rolled around, Rachel enrolled at Columbia University in New York City. She ended up graduating in 2003 with a double major in math and economics, while also taking courses in psychology and drama.

It was during college that Rachel was approached by a modeling agent and booked for gigs in Paris, France. However, she still managed to split her time between finishing school and modeling for the likes of Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess?, and L'Oreal.

Once she'd made a name for herself in the modeling world, Rachel Nichols moved on to acting, landing her first major guest spot on HBO's "Sex and the City." The role required her to shoot a threesome scene with fellow actress Kim Cattrall.
