It was recently revealed that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had lap band surgery. The surgery places a restrictive band around the middle of the stomach, dividing it into two segments. The food from the top portion of the stomach slowly filters down into the second, making the recipient of the surgery feel fuller for longer. The always husky Christie had the surgery in February, so we imagine a few things he's eaten have begun to pile up in the top half of his stomach.
