Being a good man doesn't come easily to every guy, which is why it's essential to take cues from those who do it well and with finesse. "Mad Men" actor John Slattery plays the cunning role of the walking one-liner, Roger Sterling - a man so at ease that even the news of his mother's passing couldn't faze him. Not to say that we shouldn't weep for our mothers, but Sterling is a man of zen-like character, whose actions, reactions and casual strut in life are benchmarks of a well-rounded man. If you don't agree, have a look for yourself. We have a feeling you'll soon be taking cues from Roger to better yourself.
Try New Things and Have Some Fun
We're not necessarily encouraging anybody to experiment with LSD, but it's always good to travel different avenues, even if you're heading to the same places. Peer pressure can be a bitch in everyday life, but instead of standing on the outside, judging something you've never experienced, whether it's yoga or nonfat fro-yo, give new things a try. From there, you're entitled to your own opinion, but no criticism is justified without first sampling the wares. A man can learn a lot about himself by testing as much as humanly possible. If you always get the same thing from the buffet, there's really no point in ordering it, but if you try a little bit of everything, you can find what works for you. Such is life, a big buffet of wonderful discoveries.

You're Never Too Old to Be a Ladies' Man
Most people believe that the getting is good only in the stages immediately after adolescence (i.e. your twenties), but the truth is, people have been necking in their later years since the dawn of man. How else do you explain the rising numbers of STDs among the elderly? Just because your hairline might have receded to the back of your head, your pants don't fit like they used to and you drive a minivan doesn't mean that you're no longer allowed to lay down some "mack" (a term we're bringing back). If a pretty girl smiles at you, say hello. If she says hello first, marry her before she has time to reconsider. There aren't many perks to being a wallflower when you have the option of diving right in. Just be safe as you awkwardly play, you pervert.

Enjoy a Drink Now and Again (and Again)
"Because it's what men do." That pretty much sums it up. Whether you're a man of springtime seasonal beers or a well-made cocktail is up to you. You work long days, do things you probably don't want to do and manage the overwhelming stress that comes with life without having a single bellyache, so yes, you should enjoy a drink every now and then. For those of you who don't believe in crying, therapists or Bikram yoga, a delicious drink calms the nerves in its own twisted way. Try to avoid becoming a steady alcoholic, though; drink responsibly.

Speak Your Mind
Despite what your mother told you about having good manners in polite conversation, life is too short to waste on things you don't care about. As a member of the gender to statistically kick the bucket first, men have to choose their moments wisely. Spending your life pretending you care about something you don't or giving a false impression of interest in something that means nothing to you is about as useful as a drug mule with a tiny butthole. In order to maximize the good moments of your brief time on this Earth, speak your mind. That doesn't require you to make young girls cry, but sometimes it's a moment of honest sincerity that puts everything in its place for the people with whom you interact. Start being a little more honest and notice the bullshit dissipate.

Never Pass Up a Good One-Liner
Whether business or personal, everybody needs comic relief in their lives, especially when someone has just had their foot hacked off by a riding lawn mower. Although timing is just short of everything that's important in comedy, remember that people appreciate a mood-lightener during the stressful times. And when the delivery is spot-on, it's even more enjoyable. Some situations, however, are better left alone. It takes the skill and keen sense of a man like Roger Sterling to deliver the appropriate quip.

Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
You might not like what you hear, but questions are life's little door into knowing more. Keep in mind that nobody likes someone who asks too many questions, but intelligent questions are likely to spark interesting answers, so you just might learn some cool stuff by asking the right questions to the right people. It goes along with the ideas of trying something new and speaking your mind, mutual concepts that forward-thinkers share, which is what makes them interesting quasi-intellectuals in the first place. Or, you can just continue to be a bullshitter in every conversation you ever have.

Drink Your Milk
It really does do a body good. A little vodka never hurt either. Although work ethic has changed a bit since the '60s, to where drinking in the office is frowned upon, it's good to treat yourself to a nice cocktail at the end of the day after starting it off healthy and working hard from clock-in to clock-out. Although this piggybacks off the "Enjoy a Drink" section, this clip is too priceless not to share.

Sing More
It's so easy to be cynical toward other men for being expressive, but when will the day finally come where it's normal to see a guy sing and dance in the workplace? You wouldn't piss on Mick Jagger's parade if he started dancing in the streets, so don't abuse the inner rock star that lives in your pals and co-workers. That's what gets guys to hold in their emotions, which is probably how women outlive us all.
It's a known fact that singing, dancing, whistling and, of course, cuddling are common remedies for depression and anxiety. So, if vodka in your milk doesn't mellow you out, try humming a show tune for once and screw what everybody else thinks. It's good to be free.
