It's inevitable that actors are going to get hurt on the sets of their films from time to time. Many would say it's part of the job. However, that doesn't mean that the injuries always come about in a manner that you would expect. In fact, celebrities tend to injure themselves on movie sets in ways that only seem fit the movies. With that said, we found some of the strangest and funniest on-set celebrity injury stories, and put them together for you in a gallery that will hopefully cause you no pain.
Tom Cruise in "Jack Reacher"
With the odd behavior and rumors that constantly surround him, this injury is oddly fitting compared to the rest. However, that doesn't make it any less outlandish. While filming 2012's "Jack Reacher," Tom Cruise shot a scene where he had to kick a fellow actor in the groin over and over again. On paper, this sounds more grueling for the man on the receiving end, but after so many kicks, it was Cruise who began to swell up. That is to say, his foot. The actor had to constantly loosen his shoelaces between takes in order to make it through the scene. As for the other guy, we assume him dead, wishing he were dead, or still sitting in a bathtub full of ice perfecting his Mickey Mouse impression.

Halle Berry in "Die Another Day"
If you want to talk injury-prone celebrities, look no further than Halle Berry. Robert Downey, Jr. accidentally broke her arm in "Gothika," she suffered a head injury from a lighting prop in "Catwoman," broke her foot during "Cloud Atlas," and suffered yet another head injury from falling on concrete while filming "The Call." But all of those injuries pale in comparison to 2002's scary moments shooting James Bond flick "Die Another Day," where she not only acquired an eye injury from the debris of a smoke grenade, but nearly choked to death on a fig during her love-making scene with Pierce Brosnan. Just don't ask us how he managed to jar it loose.

Brad Pitt in "Troy"
This one wins the irony award hands down. Brad Pitt played the role of Achilles in the 2004 epic "Troy." The character is an unstoppable Greek warrior, until finally being taken down during a moment of weakness from an arrow wound to the heel. In a cruel twist of fate while filming a battle scene with actor Eric Bana, Pitt landed wrong during a jumping strike maneuver and tore his left Achilles tendon. As a result, the remaining scenes of the film were put on hold for several months until the injury recovered.

Hugh Jackman in "X-Men"
This one would be ironic as well, if actor Hugh Jackman actually WAS the character of Wolverine in real life. In a scene near the end of 2000's "X-Men," Jackman catches a chain swung by Rebecca Romijn around the metal claws fastened to his hand. However, the claws came loose during the first attempt at the stunt and scratched the actor in the face. But don't worry, Jackman was fine, and took it out on Romijn's stunt double by stabbing her in the arm with the prosthetic metal claws during the same fight sequence (it was actually by accident, but we thought it sounded more dramatic our way).

Sienna Miller in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"
This should be the first (and hopefully last) time you ever hear the phrase "flaming boobs." Even though, to be a bit more specific, the injury sustained by Sienna Miller during filming was technically more to her cleavage area, which is no better whatsoever. During a special effects explosion misfire while filming 2009's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," the lovely actress' chest caught fire, igniting the area between her breasts. The breasts, fortunately, went unharmed, while the cleavage also made a full recovery as well.

Jim Caviezel in "The Passion of the Christ"
And you thought Jesus had it rough. Actor Jim Caviezel, who played the son of God in the 2004 blockbuster "The Passion of the Christ," payed quite dearly for his taking on the role. Surprise, surprise, most of the injuries sustained (actual gashes from the whipping scenes, hypothermia, shoulder separation due to lugging around a giant cross) were a direct result of portraying the final events of the character's life. However, perhaps the eeriest injury of all came right before filming the Sermon on the Mount scene, when Caviezel was struck by lightning and both sides of his head caught fire.

Hilary Swank in "P.S. I Love You"
Just when you thought the injuries couldn't get any weirder, we get to 'suspender belt to the forehead.' While filming a scene for the 2007 chick flick "P.S. I Love You" in which actor Gerard Butler does a striptease, his suspenders became ensnared, resulting in one of the buckles snapping back and striking Hilary Swank in the forehead. The consequence of this blunder was several stitches and a perfect outline of where the suspender clip hit her face. There's probably a joke in there about making an impression on her, but it'd be a bit of a stretch. Oh, snap!

Sir Anthony Hopkins in "The Edge"
1997's "The Edge" starring Anthony Hopkins came close to being the actor's swan song. No, he had no plans to retire, he simply almost died. As a result of neck problems, Hopkins was taking pain medication while filming in Alberta, Canada. During one of the scenes, he fell into a freezing cold river and didn't realize how cold he actually was due to the effects of his meds. But once symptoms of hypothermia set in, he was rushed to the hospital to be treated and luckily lived to act another day.

Ben Stiller in "Along Came Polly"
Have you ever been bitten by a ferret before? Well, Ben Stiller has, and apparently those teeth are razor sharp. During filming of the 2004 rom-com "Along Came Polly," not only did the actor require a rabies shot from his frightening experience, but quite literally took it on the chin, as the expression goes. According to Stiller, his furry friend "literally attached himself to my chin. And then he didn't let go. He was holding on to my chin" (The Sun). Hopefully getting to shoot a sex scene with Jennifer Aniston made up for it.

Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange"
We are all familiar with the iconic brainwashing scene from Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange." It's not every day you see a dude strapped to a chair with his eyes propped open, after all. Yet, we're willing to bet that most of you didn't know that Malcolm McDowell not only had his cornea badly scratched in the process, but also suffered from temporary blindness as a result of having his eyes propped open for so long. In fact, the doctor applying the drops in the film was an actual doctor who had to administer the drops every 15 seconds to avoid permanent blindness. McDowell's panicked screams for it to stop were most likely much more real than viewers imagined.
