Then & Now: 12 Forgotten Child Actor Dorks From '90s Movies

$

Being a child actor is tough for many reasons. If you're lucky enough to get through it without completely losing your mind, there is still the matter of transitioning your early success into adulthood, which puberty often derails. We're all well aware of what happened to some of the bigger names as they grew up, such as Jonathan Lipnicki turning into a jacked up freakshow or Haley Joel Osment becoming a doppelganger to Fat Mac, but what about the less talked about dweeby kids from back in the day? Where are they now? That's the question we'll answer as we delve into the lives of 12 of the biggest dorks from '90s cinema.

Todd Bosley
child actor dorks, Todd Bosley
One of the few child actors on this list to still be in show business, we figured Todd Bosley was the perfect jumping-off point. Not only was he THE nerdiest child actor of the '90s, starring in films such as "Little Giants," "Jack" and "Lloyd" (with a couple of "Seinfeld" appearances thrown in for good measure), but even puberty couldn't help his generally awkward appearance. Since his heyday, Bosley has continued to act steadily in the industry, albeit on a much less recognizable scale. He is probably best known in his adult career for playing the recurring role of Howie during the eighth season of "Scrubs." He also does a bit of voice acting and even performs stand-up comedy from time to time, a prospect that has us laughing before we even see it.

Patrick Renna
child actor dorks, Patrick Renna
We're not sure why we included a then and now photo of Patrick Renna, as he hasn't changed much in terms of his appearance. His acting career, on the other hand, has slowed down quite a bit since he made a splash in his first major film role as Ham in the classic 1993 film "The Sandlot." While he had a good run from then up until around the year 2000, starring in films such as "The Big Green," his most substantial role since then was a recurring character on the series "Boston Legal." His only upcoming film as of right now is the SyFy original "Lavantula" starring Steve Guttenberg. So, yeah, those are the kind of projects he's doing now.

Hallie Kate Eisenberg
child actor dorks, Hallie Kate Eisenberg
Starring in films including "Paulie," "The Insider," and "Bicentennial Man" by the time she was just seven years old, Hallie Kate Eisenberg seemed destined for success. Coupled with her string of popular Pepsi commercials around the same time, what could have possibly overshadowed such a budding career? Oh, right, she also happens to be the younger sister of actor Jesse Eisenberg. We're not saying this town isn't big enough for the two of them, but between her acting career slowing down significantly since 2000 and attending American University in Washington D.C., we can't imagine we're going to see much of her on the big screen any time soon, especially considering her last screen credit was the 2010 film "Holy Rollers" which starred her brother. She does continue to act, however, and even made her Broadway debut in "The Women" in 2011.

Eric Lloyd
child actor dorks, Eric Lloyd
Just because someone isn't acting anymore, that doesn't necessarily mean their career has taken a nosedive. In the case of many child actors, including "The Santa Clause" star Eric Lloyd, they simply got busy with other aspirations and projects. For example, Eric has spent the last several years attending film school at Chapman University, backpacking through Europe, and starting his own band called RadioMason. According to his recent Reddit AMA from last year, he plans to get back into the film industry, too, although this time it appears it will be mostly behind the camera or on the production side of things. While he may never be a household name as far as his acting is concerned, he's definitely given himself a number of potential prospects for the road ahead, and it's a hard to knock a guy for that.

Ernie Reyes, Jr.
child actor dorks, Ernie Reyes, Jr.
Okay, we know that by the time Ernie Reyes Jr. was hitting his stride with roles in '90s childhood classics like "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze" he was pushing 20 years old, but that doesn't change the fact that he still got his start as a child actor in "The Last Dragon" and "Red Sonja." He has since continued to work steadily in the industry both onscreen and behind the scenes, having done motion capture work for "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland." Did we mention he's been involved in martial arts his whole life and holds a 3-0 professional fight record in Strikeforce? The fact that he will most likely always be known as Keno the delivery boy changes none of that success. Just don't let all this nostalgia trick you into popping in "Surf Ninjas." That movie does NOT hold up well at all.

Christopher Castile
child actor dorks, Christopher Castile
Known as either the nerdy kid from the first two "Beethoven" movies or the nerdy kid from TV's "Step by Step," one thing is abundantly clear: we haven't seen Christopher Castile much since then. That's because he retired from acting after "Step by Step" ended, finished high school, got a pilot's license, attained his master's degree from California State University, and began teaching Political Science at Biola University. As of 2012, it appears he has begun teaching U.S. History at Downey High School, as well. You would think quitting show business and continuing to be a huge nerd would never pay off, but it appears that Castile couldn't be happier leading a normal life outside the limelight.

Amy Sakasitz
child actor dorks, Amy Sakasitz
Even with a string of rapid successes, there are no guarantees in Hollywood. That appears to be the case with Amy Sakasitz, who starred in five films between 1992 and 1996 before more or less disappearing from the face of the Earth. Well, the face of Hollywood anyways. Sure, she has a Twitter account claiming she's now a chef of some kind, but that's really all we have to go on from the former "Dennis the Menace" and "House Arrest" star. The fact that she describes herself as an ex-actress indicates she chose to leave the profession much like our previous entry, but still embraces her past. She also seems to be somewhat of a local celebrity in her native Virginia, as she helped judge the 2nd Annual Mid-Atlantic Beard and 'Stache Championships in Richmond back in 2013. It might not be the Oscars, but it's better than nothing.

Whit Hertford
child actor dorks, Whit Hertford
Remember the little dweeb who called out Sam Neill's Dr. Grant at the beginning of "Jurassic Park," referring to velociraptors as six foot turkeys? Well, if there's one person who does, it's Whit Hertford himself. Humorous video aside, Hertford has actually had one of the most consistent acting careers of any of the other kids on this list, working steadily on stage and screen for the better part of three decades. While he has yet to play anything we'd consider to be defining role, near 75 screen and voice acting credits to your name is nothing to frown upon, especially when you are a writer, producer, and theater director living in London on top of it.

Jared Van Snellenberg
child actor dorks, Jared Van Snellenberg
We always like to throw out one really obscure entry on our lists for good measure, and it doesn't get much more obscure than this goober from "Happy Gilmore," played by former child actor Jared Van Snellenberg. We hope you weren't the type of person who would have teased him in high school, because he now holds a PhD in Psychology from Columbia University in New York. Meanwhile, you are reading about '90s movie nerds while quite possibly shirtless and covered in potato chip crumbs. Even though Snellenberg acted in over a dozen films and TV series after his breakout role, he left the industry behind and wound up making more of himself than we can even comprehend. Seriously, who saw that one coming?

Jake Lloyd, Justin Cooper, & Alex D. Linz
child actor dorks, jake lloyd, justin cooper, alex linz
We knew we still had a lot of ground to cover by the end of this list, so this will have to be a three-fer. After all, we grew up constantly confusing these kids with each other, so why not combine them? It's not like any of them have acted in a movie since 2005, 1998, and 2007 respectively anyways. We don't say that to be mean, either; it's just downright eerie considering how similar they look. But don't take the end of their acting careers as a sign of failure. Yes, Jake Lloyd (the "Star Wars" kid) is always gonna have that monstrous head and claims that playing young Anakin Skywalker ruined his acting career, but he still holds onto directing aspirations. As for Justin Cooper (the "Liar Liar" kid), he is now a successful producer on "The Noe Show" for FOX Sports Radio, although he has no recent photos to prove it. Finally, Alex D. Linz (the "Home Alone 3" kid) went on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. The future is wide open from there.

The 10 Steps To Creating a Girl's Facebook Profile Picture

$

If you think any picture posted on social media is as simple as snapping a pic, then uploading it, you could not be more wrong. It's a process. It's a journey. Before you scroll by one more new profile picture without liking it, take into consideration the work and diligence it took to create that masterpiece. Here are the 10 steps involved in creating a girl's profile picture.

1. Do that thing where you put your fingers in your hair like you're scratching it really quickly so it gives it more volume?
steps to creating a girls facebook profile picture, funny facebook photos

2. Whoever's taking the picture will say, "Ready?" Then you'll slightly lean to one side and as you lean your smile will grow.

3. If you are in a picture with another girl, you MUST put your hand on your hip and lean over as far as the human body will allow.

4. If you're going to show cleavage you have to figure out just the right amount so it looks enticing, without looking like the cover of a "Girls Gone Wild" DVD.

5. Everyone knows the overhead shot is the most flattering, so then you'll hold the camera up so high it looks like it was taken from space.

6. You'll try an artistic, stylish look, which basically means you just stare away from the camera and slap a filter on it.

7. If you took an amazing picture, but it happens to have your ex in it, you'll have deal with a little awkward cropping in order to show off how great your hair looked that day.

8. There's always the option of getting one of your best friends to take a picture with you that sort of hints that you two would make out given the right circumstances.

9. If you're running out of ideas, this classic Instagram move is a good safety net. This is where you pose in a sexy way, but pretend the picture is actually highlighting some mundane object in the foreground.

10. If all else fails, just start cycling through all the stereotypical poses like someone's hitting all the buttons on a Playstation controller at once. Surely something in there will work.

Watch This Poor Mop Boy Wipe Out at NCAA Tournament Game

The Wisconsin-Oregon game Sunday night was a lot closer than most experts predicted. So was the floor to this poor kid's face.

According to Barstool Sports, the Badgers were clinging to a six-point lead with just over two minutes remaining in the game when a towel boy trying to clean up some player's slop off the floor damn near smashed his face on it instead.

Geez. Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan looked more upset about that kid eating it than the kid himself.

There are several ways you could analyze this boy's spill. The first would be to say that he probably wouldn't have slipped if he would have done his job correctly. The second would be that it might be time for his parents to fork over some cash for some new Pumas.

But the third and probably our most favorite analysis is that you're never too young to learn that life can be a bitch.

Check Out 18-Year-Old Angelina Jolie's First Modeling Pics

Let's be honest: Nobody in the history of this planet has aged has well as Angelina Jolie.

According to the Daily Mail, Jolie got her start modeling some rather boring beige outfits for Debenhams and Miss Selfridge in LOOK magazine in 1993, and her once "lost" pictures have since resurfaced.

angelina jolie first modeling pictures
At the urging of her mother, Jolie decided to give modeling a shot. She signed with the Nina Blanchard Agency and was just 18 years old when her first photos appeared in the British magazine under the title "Honeychild."

Jolie was such an unknown at the time that the magazine spelled her name wrong, throwing a "j" in Angelina instead of the "g." She would star in her first feature film later that year when "Cyborg 2" went straight to video, probably because it didn't feature Jean-Claude Van Damme.

By the looks of things, Jolie was just as stunning then as she is now, and there was nothing regrettable about her first gig. Now, humping Billy Bob Thornton in the car before the 2000 MTV Movie Awards is another story.

Here's a Woman Who Has Sex With a Tree

Well, maybe it has a really big trunk.

According to "Closer" magazine, a 31-year-old woman wants to marry a tree she calls "Tim" because the sex she has with it is the best she has ever had.

woman wants to marry a tree she has sex with
Emma McCabe told the magazine she was sick of getting her heart broken, so she decided to give trees a try, and I'll be damned, it looks as though she found the perfect one.

"He fulfills my emotional and sexual needs," McCabe said. "I orgasm by rubbing against the bark naked. I love the feeling of skin-on-bark contact, which gives me a more pleasurable pain sensation, and the feel of his leaves against my skin makes me tingle. I have sex with him every week--it's the best I've ever had!"

"My feelings are genuine. I've had boyfriends, but never connected with anyone like Tim. I'm in love and would like to get married. I look at other trees, but don't touch--I wouldn't cheat on Tim."

McCabe said she sees Tim about four times a week, but there are times when she just talks to the tree instead of humping it.

McCabe's family thinks she is insane. Um, no shit.

Fritz the Golden Retriever is obviously a very good boy, because the treats his owner is giving him are better than what I normally have for dinner. The problem is, Fritz has not quite mastered the trick of catching food yet. Not even close. Watch as Fritz gets a plethora of delicious foods--steak, donuts, tacos and pizza--tossed his way, only to have them smash into his face instead of landing in his mouth. Luckily, dogs always adhere to the five-second rule.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and that has never been more true than it is for this photo of a gas station receipt. This photo tells the tale of heartbreak, despair, loneliness and desperation, but also courage. For no man has ever been so pessimistic about the future of his sex life after having a date cancel on him, but also so ballsy about facing the embarrassment, to return a pack of ultra thin condoms for a refund of less than four dollars. We feel bad for you, man, but also, we respect you.

10 'Saturday Night Live' Cast Members Who Died Way Too Young

$

With the recent 40th anniversary celebration of "Saturday Night Live," there was a small void-- ten voids actually--left by the deceased cast members we would've loved to see there. So, we'd like to pay tribute to the late SNL greats, many of which left us in their prime, and pick up where Melissa McCarthy left off.

Chris Farley (1964-1997)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, chris farley
One of the '90s "Bad Boys of SNL," Farley was the shy but energetic man behind great characters like Matt Foley, over-enthusiastic motivational speaker, and Todd O'Connor, an obsessed Chicago Bears/Mike Ditka fan. No matter what character he played, he always gave it full effort (especially his Chippendales audition) and everyone enjoyed that. Farley died of an overdose of morphine and cocaine in his home. Other popular credits include the films "Tommy Boy" and "Black Sheep."

Phil Hartman (1948-1998)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, phil hartman
One year later, we lost "NewsRadio" star Phil Hartman. He appeared in eight seasons of "Saturday Night Live" and played more than 20 recurring characters. Hartman was tragically murdered by his wife, Brynn, who took her own life afterwards. Drugs were said to have played a part in the incident. Other popular credits include Captain Carl of "Pee Wee's Playhouse" and several voices from "The Simpsons."

Gilda Radner (1946-1989)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, gilda radner
Radner was among the first cast members, getting her start on "Saturday Night Live" in 1975. She was diagnosed with cancer in the '80s, shortly after leaving the show. Radner later released a memoir about her struggles with cancer, "It's Always Something," a catch phrase from one of her more popular "SNL" characters, Roseanne Roseannadanna. Bill Murray recalls the last time they all saw Gilda was at a party, and when she tried to leave, he carried her around on his shoulder for an hour saying goodbye to everyone.

John Belushi (1949-1982)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, john belushi
Belushi was another original cast member who started out in 1975. His roles included popular impressions of Marlon Brando and Joe Cocker, and he and Dan Aykroyd were a comedy duo, performing their Blues Brothers skits together. Belushi was found having overdosed on speedball (heroin and cocaine) injections in the famous L.A. hotel, Chateau Marmont. Other popular credits include "National Lampoon's Animal House." He was also originally cast to appear in "Ghostbusters" as Peter Venkman, a role Bill Murray ended up becoming famous for.

Jan Hooks (1957-2014)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, jan hooks
Hooks was a stand-up comedian who joined the cast in 1986 and stayed until 1991, serving up several great female impressions like Hillary Clinton, Sinead O'Connor and Nancy Reagan. Hooks recently passed away in 2014 after a battle with cancer, which she thought she had beaten. Other popular credits include Tim Burton's "Batman Returns," "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and television's "Designing Women."

Tom Davis (1952-2012)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, tom davis
Davis was an Emmy award-winning actor, writer and comedian who joined the original cast of "SNL" in 1975 until his departure in 1980. He worked mostly well in comedy pairs, doing "Franken and Davis" sketches with Al Franken, "Medieval Barber" with Steve Martin and "Nick the Lounge Singer" with Bill Murray. Davis was diagnosed with neck and head cancer in 2009 and passed away in 2012, just weeks before his 60th birthday. Other popular credits include "Coneheads" and "Trading Places," both movies involving former "SNL" castmate Dan Aykroyd.

Charles Rocket (1949-2005)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, charles rocket
Born Charles Claverie, he joined the cast in 1980 for only a brief stint but managed to become the "Weekend Update" anchor in that time. He was best known for his skit "The Rocket Report," where he would take a camera crew out on the streets of NYC. Rocket was infamously fired for saying the F-word on live TV, and reportedly battled depression for years afterward. Rocket committed suicide in 2005, cutting his own throat in his Connecticut home. His other popular credits include 1994's "Dumb and Dumber."

Danitra Vance (1954-1994)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, danitra vance
Vance was a stand-up comedian, actress and vocalist who joined the cast in 1985 for only one year. Her popular characters included Cabrini Jackson and LaToya Marie. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990 and underwent treatment, later performing a solo skit based off the experience, "The Radical Girl's Guide to Radical Mastectomy." Her cancer returned in 1993 and she passed in 1994. Other popular credits include "Sticky Fingers" and "Jumpin' at the Boneyard."

Andy Kaufman (1949-1984)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, andy kaufman
After appearing on the premiere episode of "SNL" in 1975, Andy Kaufman continued a stint of appearances on the show with unpredictable and unorthodox performances. Despite his popular "Mighty Mouse" and "Foreign Man" sketches, NBC executive Dick Ebersol moved to have Kaufman removed from the show with a viewer call-in vote 900-number, ironically an idea invented by Kaufman himself. He would later die in 1984 from lung cancer, though there are conspiracies that the magical Kaufman faked his own death and will resurface again soon in the comedy world.

Michael O'Donoghue (1940-1994)
saturday night live deaths, snl cast member deaths, Michael O'Donoghue
O'Donoghue was an original "SNL" cast member, original head writer and part of the show's first skit, "The Wolverines." He was fired during the show's third season for his mocking of the then NBC president, Fred Silverman." He was brought back two times and fired two more times by different NBC heads. He died in 1994 from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Florida Woman Arrested for Smearing Dog Doo on Her Neighbors

Yeah, you can't do that. Even if it isn't your own, and even if it's in Florida.

According to Huffington Post, a 57-year-old Boca Raton woman is in deep doo-doo after police said she allegedly smeared dog poop on her neighbor's face and arms last week in retaliation to that neighbor's dog using her lawn as a toilet.

Florida woman arrested for smearing poop on her neighbor
Police said Amy Goldberg became infuriated last Wednesday when her 67-year-old neighbor let her dog drop a deuce on her lawn. The neighbor initially said she would pick it up, but after Goldberg continued to yell at her, the woman suggested that Goldberg just pick it up herself.

And that's exactly what Goldberg did. But instead of disposing of it in a trash can, Goldberg reportedly rubbed it on her neighbor's face, hands and shirt.

When police arrived, they noticed Goldberg's neighbor had "dog doo" on her hands and shirt, but Goldberg said the woman rubbed it on herself. Police didn't buy it, and Goldberg was booked on charges of battery on a person 65 years or older.

The good news for Goldberg is that being a crappy neighbor, figuratively or literally, is not a crime in Florida.

University Lecturer Shows Students Video of Her X-Rated Performance Art

Um, is this going to be on the midterm?

According to The Telegraph, a university lecturer in London named Lauren Barri Holstein recently screened an X-rated film of herself titled "Splat!" to her first-year drama students. It featured scenes of her throwing tomatoes against a knife that was inserted into her vagina, urinating while wearing what appears to be a reindeer mask and roller skates, and "giving birth to a small, plastic Bambi figurine."

University lecturer shows students x-rated video of herself
Naturally, some students at Queen Mary University of London didn't care for Barri Holstein's "feminist performance art concerned with the female body."

"It was surreal. I honestly didn't know how to react," one drama student told the school newspaper. "I don't think I'll ever be able to look her in the eye in person, it's just weird. It's not even the fact we saw her lady parts, it's the fact I literally have no idea how the clip was in any way related to this module. It was just so extreme and I don't understand why it was in any way necessary."

We'll assume that this student won't be watching the scene where Barri Holstein inflates a condom with her vagina in its entirety, but if something like that will help speed up your Tuesday afternoon, then feel free to check out the VERY NSFW trailer here. (Warning: It is very graphic, and very weird.)

Ukrainian Politician Leaves Wife Because of Her Racy Social Media Posts

In America, it is typically the politicians who get themselves in trouble with their wives because of social media. In Ukraine, it is apparently the other way around.

Alena Politukha is the wife of the head of the local council, and regularly shares sexy selfies and other racy photos with her Twitter followers. Let's take a look at a few of those now:
Her husband must not have been too happy about this, however, because Alena says he has walked out on her and their child, and recently filed for divorce. Let's take another look at what he was unhappy about:

Alena Politukha, ukrianian politician dumps wife for racy pictures online
According to Politukha, her husband's departure came as a surprise.

"Suddenly my husband left home without any explanation at the end of the last year," she said. "He left me and our son without any livelihood or means of supporting ourselves."

While the husband has never publicly commented on his disapproval of Alena's scantily clad Twitter photos and whatnot, it is widely believed that this is the reason why he left her.

It's obviously very sad that Politukha and her son have been left with nothing, but we are hopeful that this story will raise awareness of her situation and help her get back on her feet. As for the husband, well, we simply hope he can live with his decision.
